A CHOICE IS POWERFUL

 In Blog, Can We Talk

One day I woke up and realized that where I am today is a result of every choice I’ve made thus far. As I pondered on this thought, I recognized how powerful a choice is. It can either make or break a person, cause shame or esteem honor, delay or propel destiny, cause pain or bring joy, foster success or failure, promote good or bad health, be a catalyst to wealth or poverty, be the difference between staying married or getting divorced, saying no or becoming addicted to something, and so much more.  A person’s choice also affects his or her family, friends, and everything connected to him or her. Undoubtedly, it is truly a life and blessing or death and destruction matter.

Most people could say that if I could go back in time and do it all over again, I wouldn’t make the same mistake(s) or I would do this or that. What they are saying is I would make another choice. Even the adage hindsight is 20/20 has a connotation of knowing what I know now, I would make a different/better choice.

Oftentimes, I advise family, friends, and even strangers to exegesis their choices because I have learned to approach decision-making gingerly. I don’t allow others to force or precipitate my choice because I have discovered the value of it. Know that a person is never too old or young, and it is never too late to start making the right/good choice because it affects his or her future and life.

As we embark on this new season, let’s make choices based on righteous principles and not emotions. Let’s not overlook or ignore obvious deal breaker behaviors, words, habits, lies, and red flags. Let’s approach our decisions with much prayer and caution. Let’s listen to wise counsel and don’t dismiss it. Let’s focus on making choices that will leave a positive, prosperous, noble, and valuable legacy.

YOUR CHOICE IS POWERFUL, so make powerful choices…

Anitatess… you are so accurate. Our choice of words definitely make a difference because once spoken, they can’t be reverted! Death and life are in the power of the tongue.

Do you think we should teach and steer others into making better choices?

You can try and teach but if not open and receptive to receive it, they will not. Just have to pray for the person and hope they get the lesson or advice you trying to give.

Deitriah… The post is to foment people to think before making a decision because what they choose to do impacts theirs and the lives of others. It is literally a life or death choice. I do believe and agree with you that we should advise people but ultimately the choice is the person’s and is why it should be carefully considered.

Definitely powerful message and one I’ve learned. I cannot be angry at others for choices I MADE. I have asked for forgiveness and forgiven myself and am able to move on using better choices in the way I speak, pray and associate with others.
    Yes, blessings to this message

Because of certain present circumstances in my life, I have been vividly reliving choices I have made, which, as you state, have played a part in where I am today. MY choices. MY consequences. I love that scripture from Deuteronomy above. What I especially like is that God even tells us the best choice to make. He says to choose life. If we seek Him in our decision making, and hear and obey Him, we will always make the right decision. Thank you.

Your statement “let’s make choices based on righteous principles and not emotions.” Is the key. Oftentimes, we lose focus of His will and make decisions on what our flesh desires. I share that principle with those who choose to be in my presence and also understand that we are human and when we make decisions that do not align with God’s word, there are consequences.

Great advise J Renee, I definitely agree with your post. Making the right choices sets our destiny in stone. It’s imperative to Seek Ye first the Kingdom of God and all His righteous and everything we need will be added unto us. We must allow Him to help us make the right choices so our future will be prosperous.

Tabitha… Oftentimes, we forget that our destiny is linked to our choices. We forget who holds our destiny in His plans. Truly if we seek His Kingdom and righteousness first we have made the right choice.

Awesome word. We must take ownership of our place in life as a result of our choices. Our bad choices do not have to define us, our effort and willingness to make choices builds character.

Very thought provoking! We as people hold a lot of power in our hands. The power to choose should not be taken for granted. Our emotions are fleeting, up and down, sometimes all over the place. That’s why Gods word says for us to be sober minded, quick to listen, study to be quiet. God uses a still soft voice to speak to us, we can sometimes miss it through the rumblings of our emotions. With wisdom I am learning to wait on God, not being anxious to make decisions out of pressure or fear. Once you’ve made your choice, you may not get a second chance.

I agree with you 100%, life is about choices. I remember having this thought years ago and God has allowed me to see that I can only CONTROL ME, that means I CHOOSE HOW I respond to others. With love, honesty, grace and forgiveness or I can choose bitterness, grudges, hate and discord. It’s all up to me. It gets hard at times when life comes at you with some unexpected punches but still I have a choice in how I handle it. I may not when every battle but I thank God I know that God is going to win the war and that I am part of his victorious team. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!!

Veronica…profoundly stated, a person can only control himself or herself and choices. It might appear like you lost but you actually won! It just takes time, but I rather win later than early or not at all!
